First Totem Problems
The short film focuses on identity and family and how our roots are essential to help us grow into who we are.
Your first drive on a highway, solo travel, or even going to get the groceries all by yourself are real-life totems that helped push us into adulthood. And if you dig deep into your childhood, you'd find that all these events were filled with anticipation and excitement. In the First Totem Problems, teenage Sheba is eager to receive her totem, a mark of adulthood that connects her with her ancestors and allows her to live with full-on privileges in her society. However, during the ceremony, something went wrong, and Sheba could not receive her totem. Determined to gain her totem no matter what, she trespasses the portal and dives into the ancestral plane to attain it herself. The short film focuses on identity and family and how our roots are essential to help us grow into who we are. Speaking of the first of everything, The First Totem Probelms was the first short film episode co-produced by Giraffics for Disney's Kizazi Moto Anthology in collaboration with Triggerfish. The team was fully immersed in almost every step of the production process, from the characters' design and reference library to the scenery and cultural setting
